North Wales Radio Rally 2009

The 23rd North Wales Radio Rally was held over the weekend of 31 October & 01 November. Last year, following a break of two years, a new venue was found & the Rally was back in business. The 2009 rally was officially opened by the RSGB President elect, Dave Wilson M0OBW. This year we have built on the success of 2008 & welcomed some new traders as well as many familiar faces. We achieved a balanced mix of traders selling new rigs & equipment, aerials, components, computer hardware & software & much more. There were also many items of vintage radio equipment & military kit. The RSGB were in attendance as were many local clubs selling surplus equipment. A very successful Bring & Buy stall was busy all over the weekend. The number of people attending was significantly up on last year despite inclement weather on the Sunday.

John Bright School is an ideal venue with ample parking, disabled facilities and both trading halls are on one level. Catering was supplied by the outsourced school caterers but it was nothing like school dinners used to be! We received many compliments on the Rally over the weekend including one ham who said “It’s good to see a real amateur radio rally”. Thanks to the hard work and support of the North Wales Radio Society members and friends for making the rally a success. We will be back on the weekend of 30 & 31 October 2010. See you there!
