Successful NWRS Foundation Licence Course
Well done to all five canditates who took part in the very first foundation licence training course and subsequent foundation examination at the new Tan Lan club house. The standard was extremely high with three candidates acheiving a result of 23/25 and the remaining two acheiving 25/25. What about the magic band?
6 meters (50Mhz) isn’t a band that many foundation licensees seem to try out, which is a shame as during the summer time the band regularly opens up into Central Europe, with 10W getting you well over 1000 miles. Tan Lan Fun Day
Sunday 30th May will see the usual club suspects run GW0NWR at the Tan Lan Fun Day on the sports field adjacent to the club itself. Planned SOTA Activation 31st May 2010
On Monday the 31st of May 2010, club members will be activating the SOTA summit of Tal Y Fan, which is located at the northern end of Snowdonia National Park. GG100GGC Girl Guiding Caernarfonshire Special Event Station
Saturday 15th May saw NWRS members at Felin Bach, Caeathro, Caernarfon where we ran a special event station for Caernarfonshire Girl Guides at thier summer county camp. The activities started at 2pm and ran through to around 5.30pm. Ofcom granted the callsign GG100GGC, GGC marking Girl Guiding Caernarfonshire. We ran 2 HF ssb stations, one using 2 [...] -
RSGB 2m Contest
On Tuesday 4th May, NWRS equipment officer Karl Ltham MW6CSS travelled to a summit near Llangollen with his Yaesu 857 and a 4ele beam. Karl was soon on the air and racking up contacts on SSB. By 8pm he had worked G8JGO/P in IO93GI @ 121km, G0EHV in IO84XT @ 221km and G0XDI/P in JO01KJ @323km. [...]
